Lightning Absorption. Whenever the shambling mound is subjected to lightning damage, it regains hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt instead of taking damage.
Multiattack. The mound makes two slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8+4) bludgeoning damage, and if the target is Medium or smaller it is grappled (escape DC 14) if the mound isn’t already grappling a creature.
Engulf. The mound engulfs a Medium or smaller creature grappled by it, automatically dealing 13 (2d8+4) bludgeoning damage and restraining and blinding the target until it escapes.
How hard a fight? Against a party of four, a single shambling mound is deadly at levels 1–3, hard at level 4 and easy at levels 5–8, and barely a challenge from level 9. Add allies or more foes in the encounter generator.
Where you'll find it: swamps and forests.
