Magic Resistance. The devil has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Multiattack. The devil makes two chain attacks.
Chain. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d6+3) slashing damage, and the devil can grapple the target instead of dealing damage.
Animate Chains (Recharge 4-6). Up to four chains the devil can see animate at its command and attack; each makes a melee attack against a target within 15 feet.
How hard a fight? Against a party of four, a single chain devil is deadly at levels 1–4, hard at levels 5–6, medium at levels 7–8 and easy at levels 9–11, and barely a challenge from level 12. Add allies or more foes in the encounter generator.
