Traits

Innate Spellcasting. The dryad’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14). The dryad can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components: at will: druidcraft; 3/day each: entangle, goodberry; 1/day each: barkskin, pass without trace, shillelagh.

Magic Resistance. The dryad has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Speak with Beasts and Plants. The dryad can communicate with beasts and plants as if they shared a language.

Tree Stride. Once on her turn, the dryad can use 10 feet of her movement to step magically into one living tree within her reach and emerge from a second living tree within 60 feet of the first tree, appearing in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the second tree. Both trees must be Large or bigger.

Actions

Club. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) bludgeoning damage.

Fey Charm. The dryad targets one humanoid or beast she can see within 30 feet. If the target can see the dryad, it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed. The charmed creature regards the dryad as a trusted friend to be heeded and protected. Although the target isn’t under the dryad’s control, it takes her requests or actions in the most favorable way it can, and can repeat the save whenever the dryad or her allies do anything harmful to it. Otherwise, the effect lasts 24 hours or until the dryad dies, is on a different plane, or ends the effect as a bonus action. The dryad can have no more than one humanoid and up to three beasts charmed at a time.

Running the dryad

How hard a fight? Against a party of four, a single dryad is medium at level 1 and easy at level 2, and barely a challenge from level 3. Add allies or more foes in the encounter generator.

Where you'll find it: forests.

Story hooks

  • The dryad is bound to an oak a lord wants felled for his new hall. She has offered him everything she can think of, and he is still sending the woodcutters.
  • The dryad was owed a favour by a family three generations ago, and it has come to collect. The favour it wants is the youngest child’s name.

Similar creatures: Blink Dog, Boggle, Darkling, Darkling Elder, Green Hag, Meenlock, Pixie, Quickling.

Cookies on this site

This site uses cookies for ads (Google AdSense) and visit analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity). Neither is required for the generators to work. You can accept both, or continue with only what's necessary for the site to function. See the for details, or change this anytime via "Cookie Settings" in the footer.

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026.

Fantasy Portal is an independent project run by one person (Tom). This page explains, in plain terms, what happens with your information when you use the site.

What's stored on your own device

The site remembers a couple of small preferences, whether you've switched to light mode, and whether you've already seen this notice, using your browser's own local storage. This stays on your device only; it's never sent to me or to any server.

Roll history

Your recent character, monster, and loot rolls are automatically kept only for your current browsing session, so you can look back at what you just generated. They're cleared when you refresh or close the page, and are never stored on a server unless you choose to sign in and use the Save feature, described below.

The Contact Me form

If you use the Contact Me form, whatever you enter (your name and email if you choose to give them, and your message) is sent to me via Web3Forms, a third-party form-handling service, so I can read and reply to it. It's used only for that purpose. I don't share or sell it.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can see and control how Google personalizes ads via Google's Ads Settings, and read Google's own policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand roughly how many people visit and which pages they use. It uses cookies and may collect information like your approximate location and device type. This data is aggregated, and I don't use it to identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

This site also uses Microsoft Clarity, which records session replays and heatmaps of how visitors use the site, so I can see which parts of a tool are confusing or unused and improve them. It uses cookies and may collect similar technical information (device type, approximate location, pages visited). Microsoft's own privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.

Accounts and saved rolls

You can optionally sign in with your Google account to save characters, monsters, and loot you've rolled, so you can come back to them later. This is entirely optional. Every generator on this site works fully without signing in.

If you sign in, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with the site, which I use only to show you your own saved rolls and let you sign back in later. When you use the Save button, the details of that roll are stored in a database (Firebase, provided by Google) tied to your account. Only you can see or manage your own saved rolls. Nobody else, including me, can access them through the site.

Signing out doesn't delete anything you've saved; it's still there next time you sign back in. If you'd like your saved data deleted entirely, use the Contact Me form and I'll remove it.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you want to ask about your data, use the Contact Me form. It reaches me directly.
