4th-level transmutation spell
You transform a creature you can see within range into a new form. An unwilling creature must make a Wisdom saving throw to avoid the effect. The spell has no effect on a shapechanger or a creature with 0 hit points. The new form can be any beast whose challenge rating is equal to or less than the target’s (or the target’s level, if it has no challenge rating). The target’s game statistics, including mental ability scores, are replaced by the beast’s, but it keeps its alignment and personality. It takes on the beast’s hit points; when it reverts, it returns to the hit points it had before. The transformation ends when the spell ends or the target drops to 0 hit points or dies; if it reverts from dropping to 0 hit points, excess damage carries over, and it isn’t knocked unconscious unless that damage reduces its normal form to 0. It is limited by the new form and can’t speak, cast spells, or take actions requiring hands or speech. Its gear melds into the new form.
