Innate Spellcasting. The oni’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma. It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components: at will: darkness, invisibility (self only); 1/day each: charm person, cone of cold, gaseous form, sleep.
Regeneration. The oni regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.
Shapechanger. The oni can polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or into a Large giant, or back into its true form.
Multiattack. The oni makes two claw attacks, or two glaive attacks if wielding one.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) slashing damage.
Glaive. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10+4) slashing damage.
How hard a fight? Against a party of four, a single oni is deadly at levels 1–4, medium at levels 5–6 and easy at levels 7–10, and barely a challenge from level 11. Add allies or more foes in the encounter generator.
Where you'll find it: hills, mountains and grasslands.
